Forum: movie_of_the_week Subject: Seagrams "Nightmare" film

Seeing that a film from my collection ("Untitled Whiskey Sales Film") was picked for the Movie of the Week got me off my duff to try to find out more about the film - like maybe an edge code or company information. There are no titles or credits for the film, but on the tail of the film I found "Seagrams Nightmare".

Anyhow, the husband/bar owner should look familiar - David Huddleston (Blazing Saddles, The Big Lebowski, Santa Claus: The Movie). I can't place who places the wife though. Anybody have an idea?

This film came to me from another film collector who was just as puzzled as I was with it. We're guessing that the film was made for Seagrams sales reps to show at conventions and to liquor wholesalers.

Thanks for picking this film.

This film is totally bizarre.

I sort of got the red panties connection, I suppose women are supposed to wear jeans with cheap underwear?

I don't know who the female is. Looks a bit like Kirsten Dunst actually.

All that bar lingo was funny too. Do they still use terms such as speed rack and back bar?

The relationship between the two was just plain strange. Waking up in the middle of the night to talk about liquor placement. Yeah.

Finally, Albert's Mother at the end, was, well bizarre. What was the meaning of that conversation?

The conversation with Albert's mother was bizarre, yes. I wasn't paying attention the first time I watched the film, and I thought he had accidentally reached an escort service.

When I saw the wife, the first person I thought of was Faye Dunaway, but I'm probably wrong.
I loved the decor in the bedroom. Pure sixties, particularly the light switches in the headboard. Wouldn't that cause a problem if you hit one in the middle of the night?
The husband looks like a stereotypical old guy trying to be a swinger, while the wife is dressed like an old maid.

Maybe Doris is wearing a dowdy nightgown because she's given up on Harry. He does nothing but put her down throughout the film. He seems more passionate about his pal Albert than her.

The wife has a European accent I can't quite place.

Judging from the blonde hair and accent, I think the woman might be Swedish.

I suppose being Swedish would dovetail with the friend's panties bit- nudge/winks of the time?
